Facilities Management Company Boosts Safety With Wheelie Bin Tug
A versatile electric tug solution that can move different sizes of bin safely is making all the difference at a Bristol apartment block.
The 85-apartment building is managed by Alexander Faulkner Partnership (AFP), a company with a focus on providing an outstanding culture of health and safety for both customers and staff.
Moving on slopes was a problem
Apartment residents leave their rubbish in bins located down a slope, which are then moved up to street level on waste collection day ready to be picked up by the local council.
Staff were required to move the bins up the slope to the kerbside so that the council could then collect and sort the waste. This is an extremely strenuous task for staff and comes with obvious risks to health and safety, resulting in increased risk of time off due to injury which is concerning, costly, and ineffective for AFP.
AFP then looked to outsource this responsibility as a potential solution to their problem. Kate Britton, Regional Property Manager at AFP, states that:
"As an alternative, [they] trialled a private waste company to come and take the rubbish away but [were] paying hundreds of pounds a month and without access to the full recycling services offered by the council, which is really important to [their] customers and to [them] as a company."
Looking to master a solution
MasterMover recommended a Bin Mover TOW300 that could simply attach to the full bins and allow one person to easily move the waste up and down the slope when needed.
Rather than a member of staff risking injury, the Bin Mover TOW300 takes the strain while still allowing the user to have complete control over the movement – but with none of the effort. The Bin Mover TOW300 can be used alongside a bin towing frame for larger bins, or with a bin claw that easily attaches to a wheelie bin.
Results that pay
The AFP team opted for the Bin Mover TOW300 which has delivered a real cost saving for their client, as they were previously paying hundreds a month for something that didn’t even fulfil their requirements.
Kate then went on to confirm the success of implementing a MasterMover:
Our staff have given us some great feedback and love the MasterMover’s simplicity of use and safety features. Now, one person can easily move the bins without strain or effort.

In apartment blocks, hospitals and hotels, there is a real need to manage the movement of heavy, wheeled bins safely.
MasterMover’s electric tugs can be easily adapted to move the full range of bins on the market – from individual bins with a bin towing frame to a whole chain of bins weighing up to 3,000kg on slopes and over tricky surfaces.
